Critical Gun Confiscation Bill VOTE
On Thursday, March 13th, the entire New Hampshire House of Representatives will be voting on House Bill 159 – the gun confiscation bill we’ve been raising the alarm about for the past several weeks.
The bill was passed out of the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee thanks to Democrats and only three Republicans. An amendment was added to the bill that makes the bill even worse.
Amended Bill
The amended bill will now make it so that a distraught mother who lost her child and is involuntarily committed, will lose her fundamental human right to self-defense. She becomes a prohibited person and her firearms are confiscated.
It doesn’t matter than she committed no crime nor wants to harm herself or others. She loses her rights and then has to get a lawyer, spend thousands of dollars, and fight the federal government to get her rights back.
The amended bill will make it so anyone who is involuntarily committed, for ANY REASON, will lose their 2nd Amendment rights by mandating the commitment be reported to NICS. No crime has to be committed. The person is not violently mentally ill or suicidal.
Federal Requirement
There is no requirement in federal law to report involuntary admissions to NICS, but Terry Roy, the Republican sponsor of the bill, has decided he wants New Hampshire to mandate this information be reported. It’s bad enough the ATF is already one of the most untrustworthy federal organizations in the government, but now they seek to provide even more information and force people to have to fight to get their rights back, for simply having a temporary mental health issue.
We need LESS ties to the federal government, not more.
Again – this bill makes it so a Granite Stater LOSES THEIR RIGHTS, has their FIREARMS CONFISCATED, and then has to FIGHT AGAINST the federal government, even if they committed NO CRIME and are not a threat to themselves or society.
Call To Action
It is CRITICAL that you contact your representatives. If this bill passes in the House, the Senate may in turn pass it and Governor Ayotte already stated that she would sign it. If you value your fundamental human right to self-defense, you will take action now. Representatives have already stated that a majority of Granite Staters are AGAINST this bill. Hold them to it.
