Students will learn the basics of semi-automatic rifles as well as how they function. They will be taught rifle handling; safety; stance and proper loading/unloading in the classroom. \nRange time will include shooting 15/22s from a bench rest position as well as a standing position. If students are interested\, they will also be able to try a larger caliber rifle. \nClassroom training will be provided by League certified NRA Instructors. Range time includes one-on-one instructor training with League instructors. \nThis is not a NRA class so no certificate of completion is included. This is an introductory class for those who are interested in learning more about rifles. It is much like our New Shooters Shoot only it’s about rifles\, not pistols\, and it’s outside! \nTo register\, email Cynthia at events@wdlnh.org who will then provide further details and a link for payment. The cost of this class is $25 for members and $30 for non-members to help with the cost of ammunition. Responding to the Facebook event is not sufficient to reserve your spot. We are the only organization in the state that offers women-only classes entirely taught by women instructors and range support. \nOur upcoming class is on Saturday\,  September 7\, 2019 from 8:00am (starting promptly at 8:30am) to 5:00pm. It will be held at Londonderry Fish & Game at 5 Lund Street in Litchfield. Drive through the gates around to the metal building on the left. \nThe NRA Basic Pistol Course is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA affiliation. This course is a minimum of 8 hours and includes classroom instruction and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. This is an instructor-led program and is not a blended training course. \nStudents learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from a bench rest position and two-handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; pistol selection and storage; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will also complete live-fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range. A NRA Certificate will be issued upon satisfactory completion of this course. \nAll participants must prepay to reserve their seat. The fee for non-members is $85 and for League members it is $60. This “Newbie Shoot for Kids” class is intended for children to learn a basic introduction to firearms safety\, handling\, and shooting.  The class is a great starting point for learning safe handling and shooting skills\, by incorporating detailed classroom teaching\, hands-on drills\, and range instruction.  We have women NRA-certified instructors\, who will be one on one with your child\, and NRA-certified Range Safety Officers who will provide a safe environment. This class is limited in size to make sure we provide thorough instruction\, maximum range time\, and a safe experience. \nThe Newbie Shoot for Kids is open to League members’ children only (girls and boys)\, ages as young as 8 or 10 up to age 17.  Please use your discretion on whether you think your child is responsible enough to take this under their belt. Parents must be present with their child during the classroom instruction and out on the range. \nAll participants in our Newbie Shoot for Kids class will use a .22 caliber pistol and ammo that we provide.  We even have a couple of cricket rifles made especially for teaching children. This is to help new shooters become comfortable and build on success. We will also provide eye and ear protection for children who do not have any\, but we only have limited sets available for parents.  If you have your own\, please bring them for your child\, and for yourself. \nPlease wear appropriate attire — closed-toe shoes and full-coverage shirts. This legislation will actually make it impossible for women to get gun safety training! This legislation will turn law-abiding citizens into criminals all while criminals continue to completely ignore existing laws! It’s the same exact California gun control legislation they have tried to pass 3 previous times. \nIt also creates a “register of each sale” (gun registry) which is expressly prohibited by federal law. For the record\, commercial firearm sales are already covered in existing statute. \n10:00 AM – HB 514\, imposing a waiting period between the purchase and delivery of a firearm! They want to make women LESS SAFE by forcing a 7 (really up to 11) day waiting period between the time of purchase of a firearm and the time of pickup of said firearm or ammunition!! Law Enforcement has no duty to protect us; we must be our own first responders. This bill inhibits women’s right to self defense. \nThis will effectively END all gun shows in New Hampshire (hurting small business) and once again\, harm all law-abiding citizens! \n11:00 AM – HB 564\, banning law-abiding citizens from carrying concealed firearms in a ‘safe school zone.’ Currently\, those who have pistol/revolver licenses are allowed\, per federal law\, to carry concealed on school grounds. CRIMINALS have never obeyed ‘gun free zone’ laws\, which is why schools are often targets. This is an instructor-led program and is not a blended training course. \nStudents learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from a bench rest position and two-handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; pistol selection and storage; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will also complete live-fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range. A NRA Certificate will be issued upon satisfactory completion of this course. \nAll participants must prepay to reserve their seat. The fee for non-members is $85 and for League members it is $60. Also bring beverages\, lunch and any snacks. Although the classroom instruction will take place in a heated space\, the range is outdoors so participants should dress accordingly. Please wear appropriate attire — closed-toe shoes and full-coverage shirts as hot brass can be very uncomfortable and present a safety hazard when it hits bare skin.
